In addition to our main facility in Tomah, we offer services in four community-based outpatient clinics. These clinics are located in LaCrosse, Clark County, Wausau, and Wisconsin Rapids. VAMC Tomah is one of seven facilities that comprise Veterans Integrated Services Network 12 (VISN12) which is administratively headquartered at Hines, IL, and includes facilities in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
NOTE: The Professional Standards Board (a peer-review group) will review the selected candidate's education and experience and recommend the step at which the candidate will be placed in that specific grade. The salary is based on the grade and step approved for the selected candidate.

This position will address immediate needs of nurse staffing on all units within the facility. The Nursing coordinator will determine facility needs and provide work assignments.
The Acute Medicine unit has a patient population which includes patients with a variety of medical diagnoses such as COPD, CHF, RIO__ MI, Pneumonia, alcohol withdrawal,etc. Patients range in age from young adult to frail elderly (18-90+).Biological treatments include medications, blood administration, short-term ventilator support and telemetry monitoring. The ALOS is about 5 days. The nursing personnel are Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) trained.
Nursing Home units consist of psycho geriatric nursing care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation care, hospice/palliative care and specialized care. The patient population includes patients with a variety of behavioral problems such as dementia, organic brain, schizophrenia, traumatic brain injuries, COPD, CHF, diabetes, post CVA rehabilitation, etc. Patients range in age from adult to frail elderly (30-90+). Care includes assistance with ADL's medical support, ambulation, recreation therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, etc.
Nursing care is provided on a 24-hour basis by registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and nursing assistants. The nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation is applied on an ongoing, systematic manner to all patients.
The unit and nursing staff also support others areas as needed and accompany patients upon transfer to other facilities if necessary.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
U.S. citizenship. Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required
Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. The completion of course work equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6)
Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
Education/Experience Requirements:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, no experience.
Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field and no experience; or a Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) and no experience.
Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of experience; or a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of experience, or a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no experience.
Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of experience, or ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 years experience or a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 years experience, or a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no experience.
Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 years experience or Doctoral degree in nursing or related field and approximately 2-3 years experience

Each dimension of practice has criteria that demonstrate essential core competencies for VHA Nursing Personnel. The criteria are as follows:
Practice: practice, ethics and resource utilization;

Scientific Inquiry: quality of care, research.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
